“It does not always come out the way you picture it but it takes practice to get somewhere where you can feel comfortable with your talent.”

Christian Ruiz, Senior Artist

My name is Christian Ruiz, I am someone who draws for fun and currently I am a Senior in High School.  I like to make artwork as a little side hobby, as it is something that allows you to create what you want.  It does not always come out the way you picture it but it takes practice to get somewhere where you can feel comfortable with your talent.  Personally I find art interesting and fun to do on occasion.  I love digital artwork even though I am not the best at it.  I am most skilled at just drawing with a pencil.  In art, I plan to try and keep it as a hobby as if it were a job I’m afraid of it feeling more like a job than something I do for fun. Art teaches me to be a little bit more patient, as art takes time to complete.

This first project was a project that I decided to do for a friend as a gift, bonus-ing as practice and a gift.  This character is from the video game Rainbow Six Siege and he is my friends favorite, and my favorite character in his personality, background story, and character design.  One of my best pieces I have made to date.

The second project was a self portrait, when doing this project I did not want to do anything that special since I am not a big fan of having pictures of myself. Nevertheless, I personally believe this came out great and I feel like it is a step in the right direction.  Being able to see myself progress as an artist even if it is just a little bit at a time.

History is one of my favorite School subjects, and so when the opportunity came up I decided to draw some German planes in class to have a new challenge.  This third picture was one of my favorite projects to do even if it didn’t turn out as good as I wanted it to but this was an older project and it is nice to see the ways I have improved.

Finally is my painting I had done in this class.  Again an older project I did during my beginning year in art class.  Painting was not one of my specialties, as a matter of fact this project was the first time I actually sat down to truly and thoroughly paint a project.  It has rough edges but I do like how it came out for the most part.
