“How I see myself and how much I’ve grown as a person and how I’ve grown on the inside.”
June 8, 2021
Hi I’m Alexandra Chavez, a junior in high school. I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember but I started being serious about art when I was 13. I like to produce art because it’s my way of expressing my feelings and my thoughts on either paper or a canvas. Art makes me feel free because I can put whatever comes into my mind onto my space and create without staying in the lines. My favorite kind of art is abstract and trippy. I like art that isn’t the traditional art style: pencils and paints are my favorite mediums, I’m still trying other mediums like watercolor. I’d love to make a career out of art, or have art in my future at least as either a pastime or a side income. Art has taught me that it’s okay to have a different art style than everyone else, how to express myself and being original is amazing.
My self portraits are the first 2. The first one is how I see myself and how much I’ve grown as a person and how I’ve grown on the inside. I used paint for my first portrait, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. It was difficult to get the paint into the small areas but I’m glad I changed it up and used paint.
My 2nd portrait is just a fun idea I had,Ii love horror movies and monsters so I blended them together and came up with this; I used makers and pens for this one. I’m usually really bad with markers but I like the way it turned out.
The 3rd one is my watercolor cow. I love cows they are one of my favorite animals and I wanted to try watercolor. It didn’t come out the way I planned but I still like it.
The last one is a personal one I wanted to add, it is my goal poster for 2021. This piece was a very emotional one to make, putting my struggles and goals into a piece was difficult but I’m glad I’m able to see how far I’ve come because of it.
