“It’s extremely important to have outlets that can express not only how you feel but also to be able to relate or understand others through art.”

Alexis Houghton , Junior Artist

My name is Alex. I am in 11th grade and I really love painting how I feel in the moment and using a lot of colors to convey the feeling. Art is important to society because it’s a way to share experiences and meaning. It’s extremely important to have outlets that can express not only how you feel but also to be able to relate or understand others through art. It makes me feel very good to produce art; I love being able to have an outlet to create.

My favorite medium to create with is usually cardboard and acrylic paint. My future plans in art are to go on to create as a hobby and possible take more classes in college and next year.

Through art I have learned how to make my art balance out and look more realistic. My art reflects who I am through my own feelings and emotions that I try to convey through color; I love splatter paint and distortion art.
